Balanced pH Levels for Better Health

Lately the benefits of an alkaline diet have been a hot topic in alternative health circles. I’m probably in the minority, but I’m not so sure alkaline diets are all that great for many people. I personally think a balanced pH diet is best. Stomach acid is one of the body’s first lines of defense against fungus, molds and germs. I find that eating a lot of alkaline foods makes it easier for me to get sick, especially to develop bacterial infections. Stomach acid is also needed to aid in nutrient absorption, including vitamin B12. Perhaps a middle of the road approach to pH balance is the wisest choice.

I do think that it is helpful to be aware of acid-base balance in the body. Personally, many of my health problems seem to have been corrected just by learning how to keep my body balanced through the right combinations of acid and alkaline forming foods.
